Who is Youth Action Network (YAN)?

YAN is a national organisation with unique experience and expertise in the youth action approach to volunteering.  YAN offers specialist support to organisations looking to give young people more choice and control in their volunteering.

YAN works with a rapidly expanding range of organisations at local, regional and national level with the objective of increasing the capacity of the youth volunteering sector to offer more and better quality volunteering opportunities to young people.

How does Youth Action Network use ICT?

YAN wanted to improve the gateway to all of their websites so that it was easier for visitors to distinguish which site they wanted to go to and be directed appropriately.

What difference has ICT made?

As a result of a Media Trust new media seminar, which is where this potential problem was pointed out, YAN have now improved their homepage so that it is much clearer which site people should be going to, ie young people, members, general public etc. Whereas previously the number of visitors to the youth site was far greater than visitors to the main site, there is now a more even balance of unique visitors to both sites.
